Thanks Max for this rapid response! Seems like Greyhound's acquisition could actually lead to substantial changes in intercity travel in the US. Makes me also wonder about the future of low-carbon transportation alternatives in the States. Of course, bullet trains are expensive, take decades to be planned and build but they are an effective solution to make a dent in driving or flying, chiefly along densely populated urban corridors. What's the status of the conversation in the US?
Totally agree, bullet trains would be great, but as you said they are big endeavor to undertake. There's been some serious movement for a HSR in Texas (https://hsrail.org/texas) though they're running into quite a few land use issues. Not as easy here as it is in Singapore to get infrastructure projects up and running I'm afraid. HSR in the US did get a boost in the last few weeks with the passage of the Infrastructure bill so I'm optimistic, but in the meantime alternate modes like buses/non-HS rail are probably the best bet within the US.
